Wellbeing

"Mental health is a state of well-being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community." (World Health Organization)

Our Wellbeing Hub

As adults, we play an important role in teaching children and young people to understand and manage their feelings when they grow up.

 Our Approach

At school, we use Zones of Regulation to help children understand different emotions and how to regulate their emotions when they become overwhelming. You can find out more here .

We also work with the Lambeth Mental Health Support Team to offer parents and children more targeted support via their 'Fears and Worries' or 'Behaviours that Challenge' programmes. Our specialist counsellor sees targeted children weekly to further support with specific wellbeing needs.

If you have concerns about your child's mental health and wellbeing, do make an appointment to see either Miss Dellar, our Deputy Head or our SENDco, Miss Bell. You can email inclusion@isaprimary.school to request a meeting or telephone conversation.

How can you support children at home?

Find time to talk, just the two of you - 'check in' with them while you're doing things together, so they get used to talking about their feelings.

Play together - play helps children to be curious, learn new things, solve problems and express feelings without words.

Be a role-model - show how you cope with difficult feelings and look after yourself.
